These not only incorporate the cozy atmosphere of the fall season but also bring a personal touch that makes your autumn baby shower feel inviting and special. 

Pumpkins, Pumpkins, and More Pumpkins

When people think of fall, pumpkins are easily one of the top 3 items that come to mind. Whether we’re talking about a freshly baked pumpkin pie or heading over to the local pumpkin farm, you can’t have fall roll around without seeing some pumpkins. That’s why adding pumpkins to your baby shower decorations could be a great idea to spread the fall-themed cheer!

You can use small pumpkins, or even white pumpkins as table centerpieces wrapped in twine and leaves (this would be easy to make with a hot glue gun), or maybe keep it simple with some fall-colored balloons instead.

Warm Color Palette

The fall season brings together the most beautiful warm colors, making it the best time to host an autumn baby shower. A color scheme featuring earthy tones and bright colors like reds, oranges, yellows, and browns will capture the essence of the autumn season.

Creative ways to incorporate the warmth of fall using these colors is to include using leaf garlands, sunflower themes, hosting at a pumpkin patch, and adding fall flowers to your decorations. Setting up a backdrop with autumn leaves or an apple tree can provide the perfect picturesque setting for photos and well wishes from family members.

Cozy Ambiance

To create an inviting and relaxing atmosphere, set the stage with the warm apple cider, the rustle of leaves, and the inviting aroma of pumpkin pie or apple cinnamon (these candles will help do the trick). Fairy lights and candles can enhance the welcoming atmosphere, while soft blankets and pillows add a comfortable touch. To bring a touch of the harvest season indoors, consider arranging bales of hay and incorporating apple pies or pumpkin spice cupcakes into your dessert table.

However, keep in mind, that this baby shower is about YOU, mama. Yes, we want to impress our guests and make sure they have the best memories from attending your baby shower, but you don’t need to stress about decorations or themes if it’s solely just for your guests. I promise you that as long as you have a good time, everyone else will too. And while I love sharing these fall ideas with you, I don’t want you to lose sight of the fact that you’re the main act of the show, AKA, do what makes you happy.

Fall Baby Shower Games & Activities

Include fun games and activities, such as decorating mini pumpkins or having guests write well wishes on fall leaves, which is a great option for keeping things entertaining for guests and simple for you. Some other fun baby shower activities to include could be:

• Harvest Baby Name Game: Have guests come up with baby names inspired by the fall season (e.g., Autumn, Hazel, Rusty). The mom-to-be can choose her favorite, and the winner gets a prize.
• Bobbing for Baby Items: Instead of apples, place small baby items (like pacifiers or small toys) in a tub of water. Guests can bob for these items, adding a fun twist to the classic game.
• Guess the Pumpkin Weight: Have a few different-sized pumpkins and let guests guess the weight of each one. The person with the closest guesses wins a prize.
• Scavenger Hunt: Organize a fall-themed scavenger hunt around the party venue. Include items like baby-themed items hidden among fall decorations, leaves, and mini pumpkins.

Nothing sets the mood for an autumn-themed baby shower like comforting fall snacks. Imagine your guests enjoying mini pumpkin pies and butternut squash soup shooters as they mingle and celebrate the impending arrival of your little turkey. These savory delights not only taste amazing but also perfectly complement the cozy, rustic theme of your shower. Some cute and clever baby shower finger foods during fall include:

• Mini Turkey and Cranberry Sliders: Small sliders made with roasted turkey slices, cranberry sauce, and a dollop of mayonnaise on mini rolls.
• Harvest Vegetable Skewers: Skewers with roasted fall vegetables like Brussels sprouts, sweet potatoes, and red onions, drizzled with a balsamic glaze.
• Spiced Sweet Potato Fries: Crispy sweet potato fries seasoned with sugar, cinnamon (optional), and a hint of cayenne pepper.

• Mini pumpkin pie bites (hands down, this is my favorite recipe)
• Apple cinnamon donuts
• Pumpkin cheesecake
• Gingerbread cookies (you can frost these to look like a baby gingerbread man)
• Mini pecan pie bites
• Kettle corn
• Fall shaped sugar cookies

Drink Ideas

No fall baby shower is complete without warm, inviting beverages that scream, “IT’S FALL, YA’LL”. Serve up some hot apple cider and pumpkin spice lattes to keep your guests cozy and refreshed. For any little ones who might be in attendance a hot cocoa bar with marshmallows or whipped cream is always a hit, especially as the weather cools down.

But don’t be afraid to be a little basic here too. Remember, these ideas are fall-themed because some families really enjoy going all out, but being basic and serving up water bottles and soda is just as good. 

3. What to Wear to a Fall Baby Shower (For the Mom-to-Be)

Comfort and Style

First and foremost, as the mom-to-be, you’ll want to feel comfortable during your baby shower. First comfort, then style is what I lived by during both of my pregnancies. Thankfully, there are plenty of companies out there that make stylish, chic, and comfortable maternity outfits.

The key is to choose outfits made from stretchy, breathable fabrics that accommodate your growing bump while remaining breathable and lightweight. Consider dresses with empire waists or wrap styles, which are both flattering and comfortable. These options allow for easy movement and ensure you can fully enjoy all the fun activities planned for your special day. Fall Maternity Dresses

Depending on the weather, you might opt for a midi dress or more of a maxi dress. Either way, you can be prepared for cooler weather by pairing it with a cozy knit sweater or pairing it with maternity leggings. You could even add a stylish cardigan, shawl, or a denim jacket for warmth.
