One of my biggest goals this year as a busy mom of two trying to prioritize my health and fitness has been to add more protein into my diet. One of the easiest ways to do this is by consuming protein powder. However, if you’re a sensitive tummy girly like I am, you’ll know all too well that protein shakes can do you in for a long trip to the toilet. Unfortunately, I don’t have time for those long bathroom breaks when I have errands to run, like taking the kids to school or making dinner for the family. However, I’ve recently been trying a new protein powder, Naked Goat Whey Protein Powder, that has not given me any tummy troubles after drinking! So, keep on reading for my entire review!

When I was asked to try their chocolate-flavored goat protein powder, I was so excited! It’s not often I can find one that doesn’t upset my stomach to some extent.
And my first thought of course was, “Well, baby formula companies use goat milk formula for babies with a sensitive tummy, why wouldn’t it work for adults too?”

Goat Whey vs Cow Whey Protein
Now, let’s talk about the protein itself. Goat protein to be exact. We already know that baby formula companies make goat milk formula because of its digestibility.
Goat milk has smaller fat globules and a different protein structure than cow’s milk, which can make it easier for some babies to digest, particularly those who have a sensitivity to cow’s milk proteins. And the same holds true for adults.
However, we don’t see too many goat milk products here in the US compared to where they’re more prevalent, in Europe. Over there, goat farming is more common, and the demand for alternative dairy products is much higher.
For this particular protein powder, they source their goat protein from pasture-raised goats in small-herd Wisconsin dairies.
They use cold processing (a process that micro-filters the protein to remove large particles while yielding the highest quality protein without causing damage to the protein like heat does) to ensure clean protein is the result.
Let’s go over some other benefits of using goat milk protein:
- Lower Allergenicity: Goat milk contains different types of casein proteins compared to cow milk. Specifically, it has lower levels of alpha-S1 casein, which is often associated with dairy allergies. This makes goat milk a suitable alternative for individuals who have a sensitivity to cow milk proteins but are not lactose intolerant.
- Nutritional Benefits: Goat whey is naturally rich in certain nutrients, such as calcium, magnesium, potassium, and vitamin A. It also contains higher levels of medium-chain fatty acids, which are metabolized differently than long-chain fatty acids found in cow milk, potentially offering quick energy and better fat utilization by the body.
- Flavor Preference: Some people prefer the taste of goat whey over cow whey, which is often described as milder and less sweet.
Now, on the contrary, it isn’t ALL pros to consuming one over the other. For instance, goat milk protein tends to contain much less B12 and Folic Acid than cow milk. The flavor can also be too distinct and creamy for some.
However, if you happen to have a harder time digesting cow whey protein, I think it’s worth it to give goat whey protein a try!
Naked Goat Whey Protein Powder Review
I’m not going to lie, I was a little nervous about how Naked Nutrition’s Goat Whey Protein powder would taste. Despite the gastrointestinal issues consuming traditional cow whey causes me, it’s what’s most widely available.
And since I’m a mom on a weight loss journey trying to increase her protein, I did what I had to do to get those protein levels up. Now, I am SO GLAD to have a high quality alternative that doesn’t leave me feeling so sick to my stomach afterwards.
Ingredient Overview
I know you’re probably expecting me to dive into a slew of ingredients, however, this goat whey protein only has THREE ingredients on the ingredient list: Goat Whey Protein Isolate, Coconut Sugar, and Natural Flavor (cacao for the chocolate).
You can see from the label below that it’s rich in essential amino acids and free of additives and artificial sweeteners.
The Flavor & Texture
I was very grateful that Naked Nutrition sent me both their Naked Goat Whey Protein Powder in Vanilla & Chocolate since I do enjoy baking up protein-packed foods and treats which is where the vanilla comes in handy. Whenever I’m on the go, I enjoy making a protein shake which is when I prefer having the Chocolate flavor.
Naked Goat Whey in Vanilla:
Overall, the flavor was good. It wasn’t the richest vanilla protein shake I’ve tried, but I kind of liked that it wasn’t overly sweet if I’m being honest. Sometimes protein powders have too many additives and end up leaving a weird aftertaste and I didn’t experience that at all with the Naked Goat Whey in Vanilla.
Another thing I liked was how easily it mixed in with my protein pancake recipe! If you follow me on social media, you will know how much I enjoy starting my morning off with some tasty high-protein pancakes. So that was an automatic bonus point right there.
Most importantly, I appreciated that this protein powder didn’t upset my stomach the way that other whey protein powders do. I also love that I get the same benefits of boosting my daily protein intake to hit my goals of both muscle growth and weight loss.
Naked Goat Whey in Chocolate:
Again, this is not the most rich chocolatey flavored protein powder, so if you’re looking for a quick shake to mix up and have it taste like chocolate fudge, this probably isn’t the best choice for you. However, you will love it if you appreciate a light, clean, and smooth taste with a subtle chocolate flavor!
One thing I did when I made my chocolate shake with the Naked Goat protein powder, is I added 1 serving of the Naked PB powder, and boy did that make for a tasty high-protein breakfast shake! You can check out the photo below, it was so good and hit the spot my sweet tooth was craving without any of the guilt attached.
Lastly, I noticed both of these protein powders are very, fine. If you run some of it between your fingers, it’s less grainy than other protein powders and way more smooth. The texture almost reminds me of a baby powder-type of texture.
Bottom Line, Is Naked Goat Whey Protein Powder Worth It?
If consuming products that are clean and not filled with unnecessary additives, while being gentle on your digestive system is important to you, then yes I think Naked Goat Whey Protein Powder is a great alternative.
